One of the current diet trends is intermittent fasting. There are two versions of intermittent fasting. The current fad is to not eat for 18 hours every day and consume all of your calories in a 6 hour window. This is really not a new diet it is just skipping breakfast and over eating lunch and dinner. Since breakfast is critical to keeping your metabolism active, this diet does work if you eat breakfast and skip dinner. Given the importance of dinner in people’s social lives, skipping dinner becomes very difficult.
The other version of intermittent fasting is alternate day fasting. In this diet you eat every other day. This diet is effective as long as the days you eat you are careful not to over eat and not to consume unhealthy starches. Most people can only do this diet for a few days.
